Dozens of Refuseniks (members of Courage to Refuse) demonstrated this morning in front of the Ministry of Defense in Tel Aviv, supported by signers of the Pilots' Letter and the Commandos' Letter.
The demonstrators protested against the Israeli Air Force bombing in Gaza yesterday which killed two children and wounded several more innocent civilians.
Courage to Refuse announces that the bombing of targets deep inside densely populated cities and refugee camps is both immoral and illegal. This operation, in which innocent civilians were killed, does not bring security to the people of Israel, but serves to satisfy the need for revenge after the terrorist bombing in Ashdod earlier this week.
The pilot who was issued this mission should have refused to carry it out, for the sake of our democracy. The battle against terrorism is a difficult one, but as an army of a democratic country, the IDF must not engage in a vicious cycle of vengeance.
