Courage to Refuse decided to end the tenancy agreement at the office it has been renting for the past two of years in Tel Aviv. During its years of activity the office enabled the organization to widen the scale of its activities and served as a center at which gatherings, logistic activities and meetings with new refuseniks took place.
However, due to the budget cut downs, and also since the public attention today is focused mainly on the Gaza Withdawal and the settlers' attempts to thwart it, CTR decided to minimize its expenses and keep the current budget for the activities which will take place on "The Day After the Disengagement".
One of CTR's advantages is that it's not an organization which is built on a staff-mechanism or depending on such an apparatus, but on a robust network of dedicated volunteers. Thus, CTR plans to continue its activities as before.
Although the current political agenda in Israel is focused on the Gaza pullout, recent manifestations of the settlers' violence and the ongoing construction in the west bank only show how relevant Courage to Refuse is and how influential ite voice will be when the future of the West Bank returns to the center of the public attention, not many months from now.
Israel is facing crucial times. Many believe that the fate of the conflict between will be decided in the near future. Whatever the future brings, CTR will continue to stand guard and protect Israel's democratic and humane character.
